Another pic based on my manga project, still trying to refine my style and how I want things to look. I am spending more time on backgrounds now to try and really develope the setting in order to bring the story to life. This is an updated view of Lord Byron in front of Villa Diodati as he is about to welcome his guests. The dog is based on Byron's real-life dog "Boatswain" who was a Newfoundland (and actually has a monument larger than Byron's own even today).

Still trying to find a good middle ground for the look of the characters themselves between stylization and realism, I would love to hear any suggestions about them...
This background is really good. I'm glad to see that you took the time to fully develop it, it is a big step up from the abstracted backgrounds you were doing last semester. As for the characters, it seems like you are on your way to developing an interesting style of your own.
Thanks Walt. I am still trying to find the style I want for sequential art...the sheer volume of drawing is certainly a factor; plus commercial appeal... its still evolving for now.

Evolving is a good thing right? Have you presented any of your work to someone in the know? I'm sure you will get a positive crit. and maybe some useful suggestions.

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
